They would normally be sworn enemies - but a terrier and a fox are doing their bit for canine relations by becoming the unlikeliest of friends.

And now their hilarious antics at an animal rescue centre in Warwickshire are set to become a You Tube sensation.

Eleven-month-old fox cub Rufus and two-year-old Jack Russell-cross Buster have been filmed getting on like a house on fire.

When they are not rolling over and play fighting, they are chasing each other round the room or playing hide and seek in their baskets.

The unlikely friendship was forged after Rufus was found unconscious by the side of the road last summer.

Vets were going to put him down but the Warwickshire Wildlife Sanctuary, in Oaston Road, Nuneaton, took him in.

The rescue centre’s pet dog Buster, whose natural instincts are to flush foxes from their underground dens, immediately took a shine to his distant canine cousin and the pair have been inseparable ever since.

Sanctuary volunteer Kerry Collins said: “We put him with different dogs but he attached himself more to Buster.

“Rufus is such a character when he starts to get playing.

“If you bend down he’ll jump on your back and put his nose in your pocket.
