Sky Sports presenters' sexist rant against Coventry ref

Mon Jan 24, 2011 2:14 pm

Sky Sports presenters Richard Keys and Andy Gray didn't mince their words when talking about Coventry assistant ref Sian Massey.

Former Coventry Telegraph columinst Keys and Gray ridiculed Massey's ability to understand the offside law before Liverpool's 3-0 win at Wolves on Saturday.

But it turned out highly-rated Massey, 25, got a crucial offside call right in the build-up to Liverpool's opening goal.

So perhaps Keys and Gray should be the ones sent back to football school?

Sky discipline Andy Gray & Richard Keys over comments

Sky Sports duo Andy Gray and Richard Keys have been stood down from Monday's game between Bolton and Chelsea after their comments about a female official.

Believing their microphones were off, Keys and Gray agreed that Sian Massey and other female assistant referees "did not know the offside rule".

The remarks were made before Saturday's match between Wolves and Liverpool.

Barney Francis, managing director of Sky Sports, said: "Their comments were totally unacceptable."

Keys and Gray have been the face of Sky Sports football coverage since the satellite broadcaster started showing English top-flight matches in 1992.

A better idea, sack the pair of them as they have not got a clue about football especially Gray.
I was at Molyneux for the match & was quite impressed with the lassie from Coventry running the line
