Apology after mail delays in Warwickshire

Royal Mail has apologised to residents in Warwickshire who have suffered disruption to their postal service.



Residents in Shipston-on-Stour and Kenilworth told BBC News they had not had any mail delivered for a week ahead of the Christmas holidays starting.

Royal Mail said staff "pulled out all the stops" but the continuing severe weather conditions were to blame.

Earlier this month Royal Mail said new national working arrangements were affecting the Stratford depot.

It apologised to those affected and met Conservative MP for Warwickshire, Nadhim Zahawi, to discuss those delays.

In a statement, Royal Mail said it had done its best to keep deliveries on track but the weather had made an impact.

"We apologise to customers who have experienced delays to their deliveries as a result of the continuing severe weather across parts of the area," a spokesman said.

"Our postmen and women have pulled out all the stops to get the mail delivered as quickly as possible, although in some instances these efforts have been hampered by the snow and icy conditions.

"We have done our very best to keep the mail moving and have a range of measures in place to ensure deliveries reach people as quickly as possible."
