The price has been dropped again on Nuneaton town centre building with 'remarkable character'. The Jailhouse has been put up for auction, for the second time.

It also has a reduced price, between £170,000 - £190,000, plus fees. This is lower than the original guide price when it was first put on the market for £385,000.

The once popular Chapel Street venue was re-opened in June 2022 after it mysteriously closed back in 2020. But then, around a year later, it was put on the market and the new-look venue was closed.

It has stood empty ever since and now it is being auctioned by the Auction House Coventry & Warwickshire on Thursday, September 18. Sally Smith, auctioneer at the auction house described it as a 'remarkable building',

"The Jailhouse traces its origins back to the Victorian period, when it was used as a police holding cell," she said. Most recently, it has been used as a bar and restaurant, and many a great night was had by locals enjoying live music there.

"However, this distinctive and iconic building is now ready for the next chapter in its history. No matter what direction the new owners take, the property's original features will continue to give it remarkable character."

The auction is being held at the Village Hotel on Dolomite Avenue in Coventry from 6.30pm on Thursday, September 18. To arrange a viewing beforehand call 024 7652 7789.

"...and as we got to Chapel Street,
we thought we'd give the kids a treat
and show them where their grandad had been hanged."

Horrendously overvalued to start with. - Chancers! :fuming: :fuming: :fuming:

Did they employ Rayner's valuation team?
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
