Drivers are set to be banned from making left turns at a Coventry junction. Locals have complained about issues on the Treherne Road at its junction with Burnaby Road including speeding.

There have also been complaints about motorists 'bypassing' the traffic lights. As a result, the city council carried out surveys in the area.

It has led to what has been described as a new traffic management scheme in the area. "Concerns have been raised by local residents regarding the volume of traffic making the left turn manoeuvre into Treherne Road and also the speed of this traffic continuing along the route," a council report states.

It continues: "Traffic counts have been undertaken to assess the situation. The proposed prohibition of a left turn movement into Treherne Road from Burnaby Road aims to prevent drivers from bypassing the traffic signals at the Beake Avenue/Burnaby Road junction by using Treherne Road.

"The proposed scheme will prohibit drivers from turning left into Treherne Road from Burnaby Road and driving along Treherne Road and Rupert Road to emerge on Beake Avenue."

But before the change is made, people can have their say. Public consultation is running on the proposal until March 6 to have their say.
