The firm says it will enhance coverage in the area
Plans have been revealed for a new 18m 5G mast near row of shops in Coventry. The city council has received an application to determine if prior approval is needed for the 18 metre high slimline monopole on land outside 244 Hipswell Highway, where the last of the row of shops is located.
The application itself explains: "The installation of an 18 metre high slimline monopole supporting 9no. antenna apertures and 2no. 300mm dishes along with 6no. equipment cabinets and associated development." The application is from Mobile Broadband Network Limited (MBNL).
In it, it explains that the new monopole is needed as another in the area is set to go. It says it will ensure coverage is replaced as well as enhanced.
The application states: "The objective of this site is to ensure coverage in the area is replaced and enhanced, and disruption to the wider network is not caused due to the pending loss of a nearby telecommunications site located on the roof of William Malcom House, Attoxhall Road, Coventry."
The proposal, alongside designs and location maps, is now being considered by officers at the city council. More details can be found by visiting the council website, searching under the planning section for reference PL/2024/0001807/PAEC.
