A hunt is underway to find those responsible for a suspected arson attack in Coventry. 999 calls were made to report a blaze on Sydnall Road last night (September 23).

It was to a site off the road where two shipping containers, understood to be used as part of construction in the area, were on fire. When Foleshill Fire Station crews arrived they said it was a 'significant fire'.

Initially it was feared that people were inside the containers. But fire crews found that they were empty.

However, at some point, suspects had got inside to start the fire and now police want to catch them. West Midlands Police say that the incident, which took fire crews two hours to bring under control, is being treated as suspected arson.

Officers now want to find those responsible and have appealed to the local community for help. "We are investigating an incident of suspected arson in Coventry," a West Midlands Police spokesperson said.

"We were called to Sydnall Road, Coventry shortly after 7.30pm yesterday after reports of a fire. No one was reported injured and enquiries are now ongoing.

"Anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything can contact us via 101 or Live Chat quoting crime number 20/865905/24."

Rough sleepers and druggies have been using those containers for months.
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
