Hundreds of people reportedly gathered in Coventry as police were forced to use emergency powers to disperse crowds last night. Chaos erupted at around 8.30pm on Longford Square.

Eyewitnesses said people were lighting fires and throwing eggs. Fireworks were also heard at around 1am. A helicopter was seen circling the skies at around 8.45pm.

Youths were ordered to disperse after objects were being thrown, fires were being started and bikes were being ridden antisocially. A 17-year-old boy and a 21-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of failing to disperse with the teenager also detained on suspicion of assaulting a police officer, said West Midlands Police.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “An emergency dispersal order was introduced in Longford after objects were being thrown, fires were started and bikes were being ridden antisocially.

“A 17-year-old boy and a 21-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of failing to disperse and the 17-year-old was also detained on suspicion of assaulting a police officer.”

The stupidity started a lot earlier than is reported here. The police hierarchy was incredibly negligent allowing things to get to the state they did. The crowd should have been dispersed by 18:30 at the latest when it was still manageable. :fuming: :fuming: :fuming:

I saw several cars race up towards where Melisandre used to live. Had their brakes failed they'd have been sat in her living room.
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
