Woman robbed by balaclava-clad bike gang while out shopping in Coventry city centre

A woman had her phone snatched from her hand near Primark on Tuesday

A woman was left shaken after she was robbed by a balaclava-clad bike gang in Coventry. It happened near Primark on Broadgate yesterday, Tuesday, July 4.

Her phone was stolen by two young men on an off-road bike at around 1pm near Wilko and The Botanist. Officers say they believe the theft to be part of a series of offences in the city.

Patrols have been stepped up in the city centre as a result of these incidents, according to West Midlands Police. A number of targeted operations are being carried out to tackle this kind of offending.

A full investigation into the incident has been launched by West Midlands Police. Any witnesses have been urged to contact the force via Live Chat or by calling 101.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “We are investigating after a woman had her phone stolen in Coventry City Centre on Tuesday (June 4). Her phone was stolen by two young men on an off-road bike near Primark at around 1pm and we are looking to speak to anyone who saw anything and may have evidence.

“We believe this is part of a series of offences and CID are investigating. If you saw what happened, contact us via Live Chat or 101 quoting log 2522 of July 4.

“We have increased patrols in the area as a result of these offences. Off-road bike offending remains one of our priorities in Coventry and we regularly carry out targeted operations to tackle this kind of offending.

There are 'balaclava-clad' youths all across the city intimidating and sometimes threatening passers-by. :fuming:

An 11-year-old boy was forced to hand over his bicycle to two balaclava-clad youths at Longford Park

A young boy was reportedly threatened before being robbed in Coventry. He was left shaken after his bike was stolen at Longford Park.

Two balaclava-clad youths approached the 11-year-old boy at around 4.45pm on Thursday, July 6. It is believed they threatened the youngster and demanded he hand over his Carrera Bicycle.

A full investigation has now been launched by West Midlands Police. Any witnesses have been urged to contact the force via Live Chat or by calling 101.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “We are investigating after an 11-year-old had his bike stolen from Longford Park at around 4.45pm on Thursday (July 6). He was approached by two youths who demanded he handed over his bike.

“We are reviewing CCTV in the nearby area and anyone with information can contact us via Live Chat, or by calling 101, and quote 20/587592/23.”

Man threatened before iPhone and bicycle stolen in Coventry

A CCTV appeal has been launched after a man was threatened and robbed in Coventry. It happened at the junction of Swancroft Road and Pinners Croft.

A balaclava-clad man approached another man and threatened him before stealing his bicycle and iPhone on the evening of Sunday, May 7. He then fled the scene, said West Midlands Police.

Detectives say the suspect was wearing a black North Face jacket and Paris St Germain bottoms with black trainers. Any witnesses have been urged to call 101.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “Do you recognise this man? We want to speak to him after a robbery in Swancroft Road, Coventry.

“Shortly before 7pm on May 7, a man approached another man at the junction of Swancroft Road and Pinners Croft and threatened him, stealing his iPhone and bicycle before leaving the scene. He was wearing a black North Face jacket and Paris St Germain bottoms with black trainers.

“If you were in the area at the time and saw anything, get in touch via Live Chat or 101 quoting crime number 20/412045/23.”
