A cherished city centre cafe that's been running since the 1950s has gone on sale. Market Cafe, at Coventry Indoor Market, is in the process of changing hands after the present husband and wife owners announced plans to retire, having run the business for 27 years.

The property's leasehold is now on sale for £54,950 and is featured on BusinessesForSale.com. The listing says: "The business has built a strong reputation within the local community and beyond and as such has a high level of regular and repeat trade.

"This is a superb opportunity to purchase an established café which is a great base to build upon and as such early viewing is highly recommended." The cafe, which has been running since 1958, comes fully fitted with 64 covers.

Veritas Business Sales, marketing the property, says the outlet has been kept 'in good order' and that there has been 'continual investment in new equipment'. That all fixtures and fittings are included within the sale price is said to be 'a huge plus for any new purchaser'.

The cafe has an average weekly turnover of circa £1,800 and and an annual turnover in the region of £95,000. It serves cooked breakfasts, breakfast batches, sandwiches, baguettes, hot pork and stuffing, hot chicken and stuffing sandwiches, roast dinners, chips, cold sandwiches, pastries, pies, jacket potatoes, salads and hot & cold drinks.

"All fayre is walk in trade as the café is very much a meeting point," the listing says. It's claimed there is a potential to increase trade by joining online delivery portals such as Just Eat and Deliveroo.
