More time has been granted for travellers to put together a case explaining why they should be allowed to develop a field in Warwickshire.
They moved on to private land in Barnacle, near Coventry, on Friday and illegally began to lay down gravel.
Rugby Borough Council applied for a temporary court order on Monday to stop any further development there.
The High Court had been due to consider a permanent ban on Wednesday but it has postponed the case until 6 October.
