Concerns about crumbling bricks at one of Nuneaton's biggest car parks have been allayed by experts. Reports had been raised to Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council about loose bricks at the top of Harefield Road car park.

A resident as well as councillor Chris Watkins raised fears that some bricks at the top of the multi-storey car park, based opposite the bus station, could crumble and fall. An urgent plea for action was made.

Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council has now told CoventryLive that a structural engineer has visited the site and found no safety concerns. However, a Town Hall spokesman said that the council has decided to take some action.

A spokesman for Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council said: "Following a site visit and visual inspection, an independent structural surveyor has confirmed that the brickwork is currently safe. However, we have taken the decision to net the bricks in question whilst remedial work is undertaken."
