Vandals have left a family utterly terrified after a frenzies baseball bat attack on a home in Coventry. Speaking about the events of the fateful night, the homeowner said that the offenders "mistakenly targeted" the property on Prince of Wales Road in Chapelfields.

The thugs, who are understood to have arrived in two vehicles, are said to have sounded their horns for five minutes before asking a neighbour if a particular person lived at the address. However, the homeowner, who wished to remain anonymous, said they have 'never heard of the person' the offenders were looking for.

Explaining the events of the night, the victim said: “Our house was mistakenly targeted at 11.36pm by a dark blue Range Rover with silver panelling and a dark Golf GTI. They pulled up outside our house, sounding their horns for 5 minutes which we think was to get someone's attention.

“They then asked a neighbour if a particular person lived at our address and I can honestly say I have never heard of this person, nor know of anybody with this name. They have absolutely no affiliation with our house.“

It is then understood the three men went on a rampage 'smashing the cars to pieces' with baseball bats and jumping on the bonnets and car roofs while shouting obscenities.

“These people then proceeded to get out of their cars with baseball bats, smash our three cars to pieces, jumping on the bonnet and roof whilst shouting things although I have no idea what they were saying as I was in such a panic. They then got back in the cars and drove off“, the homeowner explained.

And the events of that night have left the homeowner 'beside herself' and anxious that the offenders will return and she now fears for the safety of her two small children. She said: “I’m terrified these people think someone else lives at this address in case they return. I have two small children and I am beside myself.

"Thank you to all of our neighbours that called the police and came to check we were OK. I can only assume this is mistaken identity and have targeted an incorrect address.“
