Police say the gang were in 'possession of weapons' close to Makins Fishery

Armed police were drafted in after a weapon-wielding gang struck in Nuneaton. A 999 call was made to report three people being threatened by a gang in Bazzard Road, close to Makins Fishery.

Warwickshire Police confirmed that the gun squad formed part of the police response to the call made yesterday afternoon at just after 2.10pm. They said there were reports that the group of men were in 'possession of weapons'.

Fortunately when the officers arrived, no one had suffered any injuries. However, the hunt is now on to find the gang.

A Warwickshire Police spokesman said that the gang fled the scene in a gold-coloured Vauxhall Corsa in the direction of Wolvey. Now they want to trace the car as well as the suspects inside.

Limited descriptions of the group are known so far. One of the suspects has been described as a white man aged between 20-30, around 5ft 10ins.

Detective Inspector Cawail Wong explained that the investigation is ongoing and those with any information could be key to helping them catch the suspects. "A number of enquiries are ongoing to identify and locate those responsible," Det Insp Wong said.

“If anyone witnessed the incident or any suspicious behaviour in the area, please call Warwickshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 182 of 12 April 2022.” Details can also be passed on to officers via the independent charity Crimestoppers, which is free to call from a landline and confidential, on 0800 555 111.
