Crime has massively risen in one particular neighbourhood in Coventry
New research has revealed the most dangerous areas in Coventry. Crime statistics show that the city centre has the highest crime rate compared to elsewhere in the city.
During the year ending January 2022, Central Coventry suffered more crime than any other neighbourhood. Over 2,000 crimes were committed in the last 12 months.
When compared to the population, that works out as 107 crimes for every 1,000 people who live there. Statistics also revealed an alarmingly high rate of robberies, with three for every 1,000 residents, more than anywhere else in the city.
Shockingly, the neighbourhood also had the highest rate of public order and weapons offences as well as concerning levels of theft from a person offences.
Clifford Park had the next highest crime rate, at 103 offences per 1,000 residents, which was partly driven by the highest rates of vehicle crime in the city, eight offences for every 1,000 residents. Coming in third was Willenhall with 100 crimes committed per 1,000 people.
Willenhall was also found to have the highest rates of violence and sexual crimes in Coventry. At the other end of the scale, the safest place in Coventry was Allesley Park, where there were just 26 offences for every 1,000 residents.
Meanwhile, the highest rise in crime was seen in Longford. A total of 570 crimes were reported in the neighbourhood in the year ending January 2022 which is an astonishing 277% rise from 151 offences the previous year.
