Two men shot with pellet gun in Foleshill - one of them in the face

Police are investigating after pellets were fired at two men in Coventry. It happened on Saturday (March 26) during the evening.

A man in his 30s was shot at in Lockhurst Lane at around 8.50pm. He sustained bruising to his stomach.

Less than half an hour later, officers were alerted to an 18-year-old man being shot in the face in Eagle Street with a pellet gun. His injuries were not serious.

Police believe both incidents are linked. Officers are appealing to the public for information.

It comes after concerned locals started patrolling troublesome parts of Foleshill after incidents of knife crime and anti-social behaviour. Groups have been gathering to patrol the streets after dark, with the leader saying the neighbourhood has 'descended into a hotbed of crime.'

He previously told CoventryLive : "Some of our loved ones have been victims and the police have done very little to stop the rising levels of crime. They don't seem interested. There's almost no police presence here. Crime is getting out of control. Someone had to do something, so we as a community have decided we need to do this."

West Midlands Police released the following statement about the incident.

"We're investigating after pellets were fired at two men in Coventry on Saturday evening (26 March). We received a report of a man in his 30s being shot at in Lockhurst Lane at around 8.50pm. He sustained bruising to his stomach.

"Less than half an hour later we were alerted to an 18-year-old man being shot in the face in Eagle Street with a pellet gun. His injuries were not serious.
