Security swarmed after a Coventry pharmacy was left damaged.

Staff arrived to work at Lloyds Pharmacy in Riley Square, Bell Green, on Thursday morning to discover the bottom half of a door smashed in what may have been an attempt by someone to gain entry.

According to a local shopper who visited the precinct on Thursday there was still a security presence around the area several hours later around midday.

"I came to get my prescription and saw a security man stood outside but I didn't know why," they said.

"Then when I was queuing up inside, I noticed a pane of glass had been shattered like someone had kicked it and tried knocking it through.

"I was told someone tried breaking in through the night - I assumed they had shutters so I'm not sure if they were not used or not.

"But it's a shame to see - there aren't many shops in the precinct any more and if people keek trying to burgle the few there are, there won't be any left soon."

Lloyds have been approached for a comment regarding the matter as have West Midlands Police.
