A burst pipe left a number of houses in Walsgrave without water overnight and into this morning as a four foot wide 'river' ran down a major road as a result of the leak.

Residents were left without water from around 8.30pm yesterday evening after the water supply was turned off and the supply did not return until this morning.

One resident, Michael Grant, who lives on Hinckley Road where the leak happened, said he noticed water spurting up around four feet into the air yesterday (Sunday) morning.

Mr Grant said: "We noticed the water had completely turned off at 8:30pm. Not a drop of water in the house.

"We have vulnerable people and child in the house. We couldn’t even have a drink, bath, shower.

"At 12am, I had to leave my house to source several bottles of water.

"No one could prepare for Monday school or work. [We were] impacted massively today as we all had to prepare earlier than usual.

"Not good with 5 people needing to wash and out for 7:30am."

He said that a 'river' of water flooded his driveway and was flowing down Hinckley Road until the early hours of this morning.

A spokesman for Severn Trent Water said: "We’d like to apologise to a small number of customers who’ve been affected by a burst water pipe on Hinckley Road.

"We’re pleased to report the damaged pipe has now been fixed and anyone affected should have their supply fully restored.

"Again, we’re sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused."
