London Burger Kitchen’s equipment and signage have been removed from its Binley Woods site after its recent sudden closure.

Shortly after 11am on Friday, the American dirty burger specialist announced via Facebook it was closing its Broadstreet RFC-based venue ‘with immediate effect’.

CoventryLive understands shortly after that, the rugby club changed its locks before reaching an agreement with the company to have all of its items removed by Saturday evening.

Items including sofas, lighting, signage, television sets and crockery were removed pending collection from LBK representatives.

Gold letter signage that was once at the entrance has also been removed.

London Burger Kitchen has subsequently removed its Broadstreet RFC/Binley Woods venue from the ‘locations’ on its company website, which includes establishments in High Street, Warwick and in London’s Covent Garden.

The proposed West Orchards branch, which was announced in July, is still listed with ‘coming soon’ underneath.

LBK came on board at Broadstreet Rugby Club in October 2020 during the middle of the global pandemic when rugby was not being played and other streams of income for the club through events were also on ice.

It initially offered collection and delivery services before the Government’s Covid-19 restrictions were eased, allowing for outdoor dining and drinking, and the complete lifting of restrictions that followed.

However, CoventryLive has learned that the decision to allow a third-party company to run the site did not prove to be a popular one, and recently, the majority of the club’s main committee resigned from their posts.

A meeting is being held at the club this Wednesday from 7pm for anyone with a connection to the club to attend.

“We want to get our rugby club back,” said a source.

LBK has yet to comment.
