Detectives investigating the alleged attempted murder of a man in Rugby are trying to identify a driver who could have vital information.

A man in his 20s who was found with a stab wound in Balcombe Road at around 12.20pm on Sunday, February 7.

An investigation was launched by Warwickshire Police who now want to locate the driver of what was described as a ‘well-polished’ black, 4x4 Land Rover Discovery that was seen in the area at around 12.30pm.

Detective Constable Caroline McMurchie, from Warwickshire Police's major investigation unit, said: “We believe the driver of the Discovery stopped at the site of the incident, got out the car and asked what was going on.

"He is described as having ginger hair, in his late 30s or 40s, around six feet tall and of average build. He was wearing jeans.

“We’re not treating the man as a suspect but he may have information vital to our ongoing enquiries.”
