Two men from Coventry have been arrested on suspicion of robbery at a Greggs in Lichfield.

Staffordshire Police officers were called to the bakery on Baker’s Lane at 7.40am on January 9 after reports that two women working there had been threatened and forced to access a safe reports DerbyshireLive.

One of the women had a Taser-type device used on her. Fortunately she was unharmed but understandably distressed.

An unknown amount of cash was taken from the safe.

The first arrest was made around one hour following the incident. Officers stopped a vehicle near Swadlincote in Derbyshire and arrested a man aged 33, from Coventry on suspicion of robbery, possession of class A drugs, and theft of a motor vehicle.

He has been released under investigation with bail conditions while enquiries continue.

The second arrest of a 38-year-old man from Coventry was made in the early hours of January 13.

He remains in custody.
