Pupils at a Nuneaton secondary school have been told to stay away amid concerns over coronavirus after they visited Italy during the half term.

A total of five students have been advised to stay at home and not attend Higham Lane School following a recent trip to Northern Italy.

The country has in recent days become Europe's worst-affected country, with more than 300 cases and 11 deaths.

CoventryLive has seen an email sent to parents of pupils at the Shanklin Drive-based school to advise them of the situation and the precautionary action taken.

It has been stressed that none of the students visited a quarantined town, nor were they showing any symptoms of a cold/coronavirus.
