Residents of one Coventry house had a lucky escape today as a fallen tree smashed into the property as Storm Ciara battered the city.

Thankfully, no one was injured when a tree uprooted in a garden, before crashing into a maisonette in Chace Avenue, Willenhall at about 9am today, February 9.

Pictures, taken from nearby, show that the whole tree - not just a branch, was felled, with the trunk coming completely out of the ground.

At this time, it is not clear just how much damage has been made to the property itself, given the size of the tree.

It has been confirmed to CoventryLive that no one was hurt as a result of the incident, which is just one of a number of incidents across the region today - as a result of Storm Ciara.

Strong winds and rain have seen widespread disruption across Coventry and Warwickshire.

There has been several reported incidents of trees falling onto roads and railways - and power lines too.

Trains and buses have been delayed or cancelled, with a number of roads closed.

People are being urged not to travel, such is the extreme nature of the weather.
