An investigation is underway to find out what happened
A man was rescued from a house fire in Coventry and taken to hospital.
The dramatic scenes unfolded in Northumberland Road, Spon End, at just after 5.30am on Saturday morning (December 15).
Fire engines from both Coventry and Foleshill stations were sent after a 999 call was received and they arrived at the scene within a few minutes.
The crews immediately rescued a man from the first floor of the property. He was then taken to hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation and burns to one of his arms.
A spokesman for West Midlands Fire Service told CoventryLive that two crews remain at the scene this morning, along with fire investigators who are trying to determine what caused the fire.
West Midlands Police say that a 47-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.
