All the emergency services were called to the scene

A busy road in Nuneaton was closed off after emergency services were called to reports of concerns for a man's safety.

Police, paramedics and a fire crew were all at the scene in Edward Road, near to the junction with Coton Road.

Warwickshire Police said they received reports shortly after 5pm and were then "speaking with the man" concerned.

They blocked off Coton Road at the Coton Arches and advised motorists to avoid the area and find alternative routes during the closure.

A statement released by Warwickshire Police this evening read: "At 5.10pm this evening (Tuesday, November 6) police received a report of concern for the safety of a man in Edward Street near the A442 Coton Road.

"Emergency services are currently at the scene and police are speaking with the man.

"A cordon is in place and Coton Road and Coton Arches are currently closed to allow the incident to be dealt with safely.

"There is traffic disruption in the area and motorists are advised to find an alternative route if they can.

"Emergency services are working to resolve the incident as quickly as possible and anyone who is affected by delays is thanked for their patience."

The incident was said to have been cleared at around 7.15pm.

Warwickshire Fire Service confirmed they had one crew at the scene.
