Is this the most patriotic street in Coventry?

World Cup fever has well and truly struck in this city street

We've all seen the odd England flag hanging out of a bedroom window and those plastic ones waving on the tops of cars since the World Cup got underway.

But THIS is how you show your support for the England boys in style!

An entire street in Coventry is bedecked in hundreds of St George's flags and bunting as neighbours show that World Cup fever is strong in the city.

The street in question is Lillington Road, in Wood End, and it looks amazing - if this doesn't spur Gareth Southgate and his team on to victory tonight against Colombia then nothing will.

The huge flags are flying off ropes connected to houses, lampposts and telegraph poles in Lillington Road, with others tied to fences and hanging between trees.

Two families are understood to be the driving force behind the patriotic showing, although the feelings of national, and local, pride are strong throughout the community.

Chris Shankland, who lives in Lillington Road, said she was currently preparing a "big flag" of her own to tie to a flag pole in the street.

She told CoventryLive: "It's brillliant. I love it.

"It was started by one family and it has branched out in to the area.

"There's always something done (around football tournaments) and it look great with all the flags blowing in the wind like they are at the moment."

Another neighbour said: "It's just great to do and it brings everyone together.

"There are some other flags up as well so that everyone feels part of it."
