A man has been arrested after refusing to get off a bin shed roof for more than seven hours.

The 42-year-old Coventry man, who was wanted on recall to prison, climbed onto the bin shed on the corner of Stretton Avenue and Fawley Close, Willenhall, and threatened to jump off it.

A large presence of police were at the scene yesterday afternoon and several residents came out to see what was going on - including some who sat out in their gardens to watch the drama unfold.

After spending nearly eight hours on the roof, he eventually got down of his own accord shortly after 8pm.

The man, of no fixed address, was also arrested in connection with a shop burglary in Upper Precinct on the same day.

Specialist negotiators and police officers attended the incident and the road was sealed off while they attempted to get the man down.

Reports on social media suggested that around 30 officers were on the scene at one point.

At the time of reporting, the man remained in police custody for questioning.

Another 'incident' that we need Jamieson to explain. :fuming:
