Emergency services were called to reports of a collision involving a blue Nissan Almera and a tree on Binley Road in Coventry shortly after 6am.

Three ambulances, a paramedic officer and a MERIT trauma doctor were called to the scene.

Despite the amount of resources on scene, nothing could be done to save one occupant of the vehicle and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two others inside the car have also been injured and were taken to hospital, one in a critical condition.

All three are said to be in their 20s.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Emergency services arrived to find a car which had been involved in a serious collision with a tree. Sadly, it quickly became apparent to ambulance staff that nothing could be done to save one occupant, a man, and he was confirmed dead on scene.

“A second occupant, a man, was in a critical condition. Ambulance staff and the doctor worked rapidly as a team to administer advanced trauma care to the man on scene before he was conveyed by ambulance on blue lights to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further trauma care.

“The doctor travelled in the ambulance to continue advanced treatment and monitoring en route.

“The man was said to be in a critical condition upon arrival at hospital.

“A third occupant, a man in his 20s, was treated on scene for less serious injuries before being taken to the same hospital for further checks.

“The road remains closed and diversions are in place.”

The stretch of Binley Road was closed off, with diversions in place.

West Midlands Police confirmed that the road re-opened at 2.30pm.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the crash.

Sgt Alan Hands, from the Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We need anyone who saw a blue Almera on Binley Road near the junction with Stoke Green to get in touch.”

Contact 101, quoting log 322 of 11 January.

I somehow don't think you do that at 30mph
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.

Quite correct Rebbonk. I think there is a clue in the age of the occupants of the car.

Seldom do people survive hitting a tree in a car accident in parts of Europe they try to design their road systems away from trees or place barriers before a car can hit a tree.

Home of crash victim ransacked within hours of son's death

Sick thieves ransacked the home of a Coventry man less than 24 hours after he was killed in a horrific car crash.

Jordan Taylor Howell died after the car he was travelling in on his way to work struck a tree in Binley Road, Stoke Green, last Thursday.

And while his loved ones were trying to comprehend not ever seeing the 25-year-old again, they received the sickening news that Jordan’s flat in Tile Hill had been robbed.

The culprits had broken in and “taken everything” including his clothes, furniture and sentimental items, and had even packed up food from the cupboards, his distraught family has revealed.

As well as wanting justice for their son, his family paid tribute to Jordan, who was also known as JT, saying he would “give you the shirt off his back”.

ordan’s heartbroken mum, Jennie, said: “I had a phone call the next morning to say someone had broken into his flat.

“They had ransacked the place and took everything. They had taken the table and chairs, his clothes and shoes.

“They had even bagged his food up and put it in a suitcase, so they hadn’t just taken the normal stuff.

“They also stole a watch that was my dad’s and had been given to Jordan by my mum after my dad had died, and also a World War One medal that was my great great grandfather’s.

“We now just have a few clothes of Jordan’s and bits and bobs. They have robbed us of any comfort of him and memories.

“I want everyone to know what happened and what these dirty, dirty people have done.

“I want these people caught and everyone to know that they were stealing from a dead 25-year-old man.

“I want justice for my son.”

Jordan’s mobile phone has also been missing since the crash, and his aunt Kerri, who said that “everybody loved” Jordan, added: “He died and 12 hours later these people were in his flat stealing from him.

“They have left us with nothing. It is disgusting.”
