It has been claimed it is a safety concern
More than 100 people have signed a petition for a bus terminus to be moved off a main road in Coventry.
The former terminus was on Broad Lane at the junction of Banner Lane before work began to change the layout of the junction.
It was formerly a T-junction, before months of work started to transform it into a roundabout.
Work started back in November, but prior to that, the former terminus for the number 10 bus was a layby around the junction.
While work was going on, £66,000 was spent on a new terminus outside Woodway School - but it isn’t being used.
Cllr Peter Male has said residents are angry and upset as buses stop outside their houses.
He said: “We submitted a petition with more than 100 signatures to full council on December 5.
“We aren’t expecting a response until at least the new year.
“The original terminal was a proper one with more room in the layby for buses before the work started.
“They built a new layby by Woodlands to replace the terminus at the end of Banner Lane, but they are choosing not to use it, despite the cost of £66,000.”
The layby outside Woodlands is no longer being used - but a bus stop is being used as a terminus rather than a normal bus stop.
Residents are having one or two buses at a time stopping outside the houses for at least ten minutes.
Cllr Male added: “The new site is on a T-junction in a busy shopping area.
“It was already a busy stop and now is even busier when they are parked there for up to 10 minutes at a time.
“It is just a normal road so it is causing people problems.
“I have been contacted by a number of residents about the safety of the bus stop.
“Why don’t they just use the one they spent money on to build?”
National Express have been contacted for comment.
