Forensic teams study the scene beside the former Coop supermarket in New Century Way, Nuneaton
A PROBE is underway after a man was found slumped in Nuneaton town centre after suffering from a serious head injury.
Detectives have launched an investigation as the 19-year-old man, who has not been identified, continues to receive hospital treatment for a fractured skull.
Police were called to New Century Way at 10.31pm on Friday, July 6 after reports of an alleged assault followed by an earlier altercation at the Co-op Club in Dugdale Street.
Forensics officers were in the area for around an hour earlier this morning, before packing up their kit and leaving.

A large section of the path, which runs along the side of the former Co-op supermarket, had been cordoned off but is now clear once more.
A 26-year-old man, from Nuneaton, has been arrested and remains in police custody at this time.
Detective Sergeant, Adam Clifford, said: "A thorough investigation is underway, and we would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or may have any information relating to this, as a matter of urgency.
"Should you have any information that could assist with ascertaining the details of the incident, please call 101, quoting incident 546 of 6 July".
