Vera Oughton has dedicated her spare time to the Myton Hospice shop on Warwick Street since the day it opened in 1992.

Vera who recalled fond memories of the shop, said she had also been touched by the work the hospice team do.

Myton’s oldest shop of three has raised 1.8 million for the charity, which runs three hospices across Coventry and Warwickshire, as well as a home care service.

Kingsley Hasler who has managed the shop for eleven years said: “Every day volunteers come in for nothing and I value them more than they know, we couldn’t survive without our volunteers.

“We like to have a laugh and a cup of tea and a natter. Every day is different.”

People who do something for nothing get my vote. Sadly, they are in a rapidly diminishing minority within our greed riddled, me, me, me, society.
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
