Moseley Avenue Surgery was inspected and rated by the Care Quality Commission

A Coventry doctors’ surgery has been rated ‘requires improvement’ by a health watchdog.

Moseley Avenue Surgery in Coundon was given the low score by the Care Quality Commission in a report out this month.

The Moseley Avenue practice performed poorly on the safety of some of its services when it was inspected on July 26 this year.

The practice now has to come up with an action plan to address the problems.

Inspectors said: “The practice had systems, processes and practices in place to keep patients safe and safeguarded from abuse but there were some omissions.

“For example, reception and administration staff had not received update training in safeguarding and infection control.

“However, all staff described appropriate action they would take if they had safeguarding concerns.

“There was evidence of assessment to risk but there were omissions and some risks had not been managed in accordance with identified actions.”

A rating of ‘requires improvement’ was also allotted to how well led the services were.

Inspectors said: “There was a clear leadership structure and most staff felt supported by management, but some reported that additional support would be beneficial to assist them in their role during times of change.”

The practice manager at Moseley Avenue Surgery declined to comment when contacted by the Telegraph.
