Young girl taken to hospital after dog attack at Nuneaton park

A girl was taken to hospital after being bitten by a puppy in a Nuneaton park.

The 12-year-old was attacked by a young American bulldog at the Tomkinson Road recreation ground at 5.50pm on Wednesday.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said she suffered bite wounds to her left arm and left leg and was taken to George Eliot Hospital in Nuneaton for treatment.

The dog has since been taken into police care following the incident.

Warwickshire Police are investigating the incident and would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have seen what happened.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Police are investigating this incident and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed it or has any information which would help with their inquiries.”

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We had a call at 5.55pm to the recreation ground in Tomkinson Road in Nuneaton.

“One female aged 12 had puncture wounds to her left arm and left leg after being attacked by a puppy.

“She was given pain relief and taken to George Eliot Hospital.

“Police were also on scene.”
