One of Coventry’s three Frankie and Benny’s restaurants is set to close, operators have revealed.

Last week the chain’s owners The Restaurant Group, who also own Chiquito Mexican restaurant chain, announced the closure of 33 outlets in total.

But they haven’t said which sites are being shut until today.

Of the city’s three Frankie in Benny’s in Walsgrave , Rowleys Green and Tile Hill only the branch in Tile Hill will shut.

It’s one of very few outlets in the Midlands to shut with branches in Nuneaton, Merry Hill in Dudley and The Fort Shopping Park staying open.

A ‘challenging trading period’ as well as insufficient focus on value, unsuccessful menu development and poor operational execution’ were blamed for the closures.

A spokesperson said: “Further to the 33 outlets closing we have identified another 29 UK outlets that will need improvements. But at the moment they are not at risk of closure.”

The nearest Chiquito closure will be Midsummer Boulevard in Milton Keynes.

The Tile Hill Frankie and Benny’s, in Fletchamstead Highway , will shut in the middle of October.

Wasn't there very long was it? Google Earth still shows Blockbuster as being on the Tile Hill site.
