Nuneaton and Bedworth Council ends 'boss sharing' talks

Postby dutchman » Fri May 14, 2010 12:11 am

A Warwickshire council leader has said he does not want to continue talks about sharing a chief executive and other services with another authority.

Rugby Council had said it wanted to work closer with Nuneaton and Bedworth Council to make savings.

Nuneaton and Bedworth's new Labour leader Dennis Harvey has said he does not wish the talks to proceed.

The council moved from being run by the Conservatives to no overall control in last week's local elections.

A spokesman for the council said a formal decision to end the talks had not been taken but the council was aware of Councillor Harvey's statement.

Craig Humphrey, leader of the Conservative-controlled Rugby Borough Council, said the council would look at sharing services with another authority.
