Postby dutchman » Mon May 10, 2010 1:52 pm

A stretch of the M40 was closed during the morning rush hour after an accident in which a woman was seriously hurt.

It was shut southbound between junction 12 and 11 following an accident involving two vehicles at Farnborough, Warwickshire.

An air ambulance was sent to the scene about halfway between junction 12, near Gaydon, and junction 11, close to Banbury.

The incident happened at about 0700 BST and the M40 was shut for a time.

A West Midlands ambulance service spokesman said one car had gone into the central reservation and another car had ended up in a ditch.

A woman in the car which went into the central reservation suffered serious injuries.

Two people from that car and two who were in the car which went into the ditch were treated for minor injuries.
