Barker Butts Lane closed off while police attended a crash between a car and motorbike



A busy route into the city centre was shut for several hours this morning after a car and motorbike collided.

Barker Butts Lane was closed off by police at the junction with Tomson Avenue after the accident which occurred around 9.30am.

West Midlands Police reopened the road at around 1pm.

A spokesperson said: “All we know is there has been a road traffic collision between a car and motorbike.

“There is some debris to clean up so we need to close off the road to do a clean up.”

Coventry road reopened after hit-and-run leaves motorcylist with serious injuries

A busy Coventry road was closed for several hours after a hit-and-run left a motorcylist with serious injuries.

Barker Butts Lane was closed off by police at the junction with Tomson Avenue after the incident which occurred around 9.30am.

Police are looking for the driver of a Toyota Avensis involved in the collision with a AJS JSM 125 motorbike.

A police spokesman said: “Despite the biker lying injured on the ground, the driver of the Toyota drove off.

“The car was later found on Hewitt Avenue and removed for a detailed forensic analysis.“Police are now hunting for the driver.

"The motorcyclist was taken to hospital with serious injuries to his foot and leg."
