Vets were forced to put down a paralysed rabbit after it was cruelly dumped outside the RSPCA in Coundon during working hours.

The critical-ill bunny, who couldn't move its legs, was discovered by staff in a wicker picnic basket.

Lorraine Bryan-Arnold, deputy manager at the branch , said: “We walked out the front of the reception to discover an awful sight.

“The poor rabbit was clearly in a very bad way. He should have seen a vet a long time ago.

“There is absolutely no excuse for this . This rabbit was in a terrible state.

“An emergency vet was called straight away, but sadly the rabbit was so poorly that the vet felt the only option was to put the rabbit to sleep.”

Anyone who has any information about who dumped the rabbit can call the RSPCA’s appeals line in confidence on 0300 123 8018.

Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
