Woman dies in Longford house fire

A woman has died after a house fire in Coventry last night.



The blaze broke out a home in Sydnall Road, Longford , at around 9.15pm and four fire crews from across the city were called to tackle the flames. Police and ambulance crews were also called.

Sadly they were unable to save the 40-year-old woman.

The fire started in a first-floor bedroom and West Midlands Fire Service have stated that a woman who was inside the property has died.

The cause of the fire is not yet known and investigations are ongoing.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "The death is not being treated as suspicious and has been referred to the coroner."
