Coventry fish and chip shop named one of UK's best

A Coventry takeaway has been crowned one of the best places in the country to eat a national favourite.



Mr M’s Traditional Fish and Chip Shop have been crowned one of Just Eat's top 10 fish and chip restaurants in the UK, as part of the rating service's Tried and Tasted Awards.

Situated in The Chesils, in Coventry, the eatery serves up classics from battered cod to mushy peas to hundreds of city residents every week.

The restaurant makes the list with nine other nationwide establishments, but was the only representative from Coventry or Warwickshire, having beaten off stiff competition from over 22,000 eateries.

Kosta Maoudis, owner of Mr M’s, says: “We are over the moon.

"We are truly delighted to be one of the top 10 Fish and Chip restaurants in the country."

Tried and Tasted serves up awards to the best restaurants and takeaways partnered with Just Eat.

Establishments are recognised for their consistently high reviews and ratings left by customers throughout the previous year.

To win, a restaurant must have received more than 250 customer reviews on Just Eat during 2015.

Restaurants must also boast an average Just Eat rating of 5/6, and a Food Standards Agency hygiene rating of three or above.

Mr M's has notched up an impressive rating of 5.5/6, from 753 reviews, and currently holds a FSA hygiene rating of five stars.

Mr Maoudis added: "We are a family business, founded in the 1960’s so it’s great to see we are still as popular as we were back then.”
