Postby dutchman » Thu Dec 03, 2015 2:39 pm

MPs voted in favour of military action yesterday, with four RAF Tornado jets deployed shortly after the motion carried - and eight more are set to follow today.

A total of 397 MPs voted for military action while 223 voted against, with the region's MPs almost unanimously backing the action.

Two Coventry MPs, Colleen Fletcher (Lab Coventry North East) and Geoffrey Robinson (Lab Coventry North West), voted in favour.

Alongside them, eight Conservative MPs from the region - including those from Warwick and Leamington, North Warwickshire and Bedworth, Nuneaton, Rugby, Meriden, Solihull, Stratford-on-Avon, and Kenilworth and Southam - voted in favour.

Only Jim Cunningham MP, Labour's representative for Coventry South, was opposed.

I requested my MP vote against air strikes. - She voted for them. To be fair I've had a reply explaining why she voted the way she did, but I still disagree.

I honestly believe that this is the wrong way to go about things and is ill thought through and ill conceived. I'm not against the use of military force in Syria, but I think it needs to be thought through properly and a decent exit strategy put in place. Our record in the ME to date isn't exactly very good.

As regards Cameron's (alleged) words that those against strikes are ISIS sympathisers, I point out most vehemently I'm not!
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.

I can't see any justification for any kind of military intervention myself?
