Man critically ill in hospital after Binley assault

A man is critically ill in hospital following a violent attack close to a Coventry pub.

The 25-year-old was found with a serious head injury in a garden near Deerdale Way, Binley, at 8.30pm on May 24.

He is currently in a coma in hospital, with police describing his condition as critical but stable.

Officers believe the 25-year-old may have had an argument with a group of men outside the Standard Bearer in Santos Close before being chased into nearby Deerdale Way and attacked.

Det Sgt Louise Hanlon said: “From the injuries the man has sustained, this appears to have been a violent assault which has left him with potentially life changing injuries.

“We have carried out house-to-house inquiries and we are still establishing if there is any CCTV in the area which may help us with our investigation, but we could really do with hearing from people about what happened.

“Whoever is responsible for this attack needs to be arrested and brought to justice, and I would urge anyone who was at the pub the Sunday before last and witnessed the dispute outside to contact us.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
