Local campaigner Kath Barrie is on a mission to tackle the problem of inconsiderate and dangerous parking on the grass verges of Princethorpe Way, in Ernesford Grange.

Residents believe the verges are an important feature of the estate, enhancing the pleasant and spacious design of the area. But, on the stretch of Princethorpe Way near the junction with Langbank Avenue, the verges have become unsightly.

Resident Iris Weir said: “Vehicles have churned the surface up into ruts, which become muddy in rainy weather. Huge vans park on the grass, and cars regularly obstruct a BT inspection cover.

“Despite the fact that all utility services pass under the verges, thoughtless drivers still plough over the grass, weakening the infrastructure. What is supposed to be an open green border, softening the aspect of the main road, has become a crowded parking lot.”

Residents say vehicles parked on the grass verge is “an accident waiting to happen” as their view is blocked accessing the road in their cars from their garages.

Kath Barrie knocked on doors to collect names for a petition to highlight the problem which has been presented to Ram Lakha, Councillor for Binley and Willenhall Ward, to submit to the council.
