Police are investigating a spate of car crime in Eastern Green and Allesley Park that has seen sat navs, cash and a handbag being stolen.

In the last few weeks there has been 14 separate offences in the area.

Officers believe the offenders are striking late at night by trying the doors of cars before rifling through any that are unlocked.

Sgt Lee Froggatt said: “Sgt Eaves and I work closely together to ensure that both of our teams are aware of any emerging trends.

“This allows us to support each other in terms of increased visibility as our neighbourhoods border each other and we work different shift patterns

“We would encourage residents to report all offences to us so we have an accurate picture of the offending levels.”

Whoberley Coun Bally Singh said: “There’s widespread concern amongst local residents, regarding the car break-ins in the Allesley Park vicinity.

“I’ve asked police to increase local patrols, investigate any offending patterns and liaise with the council on CCTV images.

“I urge anyone who witnessed suspicious behaviour, no matter how trivial, to call 101.”
