Stolen vehicle outside government building was leaking fuel, later found to be red diesel - prompting a full scale alertPolice have revealed that a suspicious car that shut a busy Coventry road for four hours was full of red diesel.
Quinton Road, in Cheylesmore , was shut from around 2pm on Friday after the stolen vehicle was discovered parked in Cheylesmore House.
It was leaking fuel and two canisters were spotted inside the vehicle, forcing police to clear the area as a precaution.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said they had to be cautious because Cheylesmore House is a government building.
The canisters were both later found to contain red diesel.
