Woman, 73, mugged in Leamington

A 73-year-old woman has been assaulted by a mugger in Leamington.

Police say she suffered serious facial injuries in the attack in Leam Terrace at 9.45pm on Friday.

A Warwickshire Police spokesman said: "The man put himself between the woman’s door and her car, preventing her from closing the door.

"He grabbed her handbag and then assaulted her, knocking her to the floor, before making off with her bag."

Police say he was white, aged 20 to 30, fairly tall, of solid build with short darkish hair, and wearing smart casual clothing.

He walked off towards the Parade and turned right into Mill Road.
