Carjackers jailed after dragging woman from sports car
Two masked carjackers dragged a woman from her sports car and threw her into the road before racing off at 70mph through the streets of Coventry.
Shane Mullen, 21, and Gez Bennett, 19, targeted a Nissan GT-R worth £40,000 belonging to the woman on September 18 last year.
She had got into the car with her nine-year-old son after visiting a beauty salon in Marlborough Road, Stoke, when Mullen and Bennett approached her with scarves covering their faces.
She was pulled from her car and, thinking her son was still inside, chased the vehicle down the road.
Fortunately the nine-year-old had already fled the vehicle and was found in nearby Argyle Street.
Driving away from the scene one of the men is heard on dash cam footage of the raid saying “rally car son” and “best car we’ve had bruv”.
At Warwick Crown Court today, Mullen, of Glaisdale Avenue, Holbrooks, was jailed for 64 months and Bennett, of Shulmans Walk, Henley Green, received 54 months.
Both men were also disqualified from driving for the full length of their sentences.
The pair had both previously pleaded guilty to one charge of conspiracy to rob.
