A man has died after he was hit by a train at a railway station in Coventry.
Archive photoThe incident, which is not thought to be suspicious, happened at Tile Hill Station shortly before 11.30am on Monday.
Trains were delayed for hours as the line was closed between Birmingham International and Coventry stations.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: “Officers from BTP and West Midlands Police were called to Tile Hill railway station, near Coventry, after a report that a person had been struck by a train.
“Medics from the West Midlands Ambulance Service also attended and located a man with serious injuries consistent with having been hit by a train.
"The man was given treatment but sadly died at the scene shortly after 12pm.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the man’s identity and inform his next of kin.”
