Permission has been given for more than 600 new homes to be built in Coventry.

It is the first stage of a 15-year building scheme in the city's Wood End and is part of a wider building project for 3,000 new homes in Coventry.

The New Deal for Communities programme was approved by the city council and is funded by the government to help improve disadvantaged areas.

Work on the first phase of 154 two and three-storey homes is due to start in May ready to be moved into by October.

Coventry City Council approved the Wood End plans on Friday as part of the £300m Coventry New Deal building project, which includes Henley Green, Deedmore and Manor Farm areas of the city too.
