Anyone prosecuted by Coventry City Council will now have to travel to Nuneaton for their case to be heard.
Up until January 2 every case was heard in the city’s magistrates court but now anyone prosecuted for offences like dog fouling, school truancy and non-payment of council tax, will have to go elsewhere.
The city council has opposed the move and is considering a judicial review of the decision.
The organisational shake-up also means that Nuneaton criminal cases will almost always now be heard in Leamington.
